Vintage Moldovan Rug "Peony Tray"
An imposing rug that proudly bears the craftsmanship of its maker. This beautiful rug was weaved by Efrosinia in the 1970s as an addition to her daughter's future dowry. Podnosul "The Tray" was a motif introduced by craftswomen into rugs as a result of the rising popularity of Persian and Turkish rug elements in Soviet Moldova.
The weaving technique used for this rug is called “fir cu fir” (thread by thread) and is characteristic to the northern region of Moldova, resulting in a firm and thick rug.
